Sisterhood Lanka is a feminist platform built by and for women and girls across the island. We began in 2016 as a small circle of activists, researchers, lawyers and survivors who were tired of watching women's realities flattened into statistics — and we have grown into a national network working in all nine provinces.
We work where gender inequality is produced and reproduced: in homes, in workplaces, in courts, in classrooms, in religious institutions, and increasingly online. Our role is not to speak for women. It is to make sure women have the resources, the legal knowledge and the collective power to speak for themselves.
Everything we publish is grounded in the lives of the women we work with. Our research is designed with community researchers rather than extracted from them, and our advocacy is shaped by the women who live the consequences of the policies we challenge.
We are independent, non-partisan and not affiliated to any political party or religious body. We are accountable to the communities we work with first, and to our funders second.

A Sri Lanka where every woman and girl lives free from violence, discrimination and fear — and where her voice shapes the decisions that govern her own life.
Our mission
To build feminist power among women and girls in Sri Lanka by documenting lived realities, advocating for just law and policy, creating safe spaces for collective learning, and holding institutions accountable to the promises they make.
